There has been a lot of talk about RSS feeds and automatically updating information on your phone. Did you know that with mostyle, you can use RSS feeds in your mosties? This is a great way to keep you mosite up to date with new information, without having to write it all out yourself.
Any website, blog or news portal that has the RSS feed logo on it, will have a link to an RSS feed, this link can be copied and used on your mosite.![]()
How? It’s easy, simply find a site you like that has an RSS icon on it. Most news sites will have one, when you click on the RSS link, you are taken to a listing of links that you can copy, sometimes there is a link you can copy straight from the site, or you can simply copy the URL.
Once you’ve found a site or feed you’d like to use on your mosite, or build a mosite around, head to ‘create mosite’ on the mostyle website (or click on the mosite you want to add the link to).
On the site edit page, you’ll find a listing of different panels you can add to your mosite. Click on the RSS feed box, add it, and configure it.
Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is enter in a name for the feed, enter in the URL, and how many articles you want displayed (5 is usually a good length).
Once you finish editing and customising your site, your site will automatically populate itself with new information when ever the site is updated. Some good examples of mosites that are already using an RSS feed are the Australian Weather site, the Herald Sun Confidential Showbuzz and the Yahoo! news site!
On another note, we have implemented a notifications email service that sends you an email whenever you are sent a momail or a shoutout. This way, you are reminded to check you mostyle account when you have mail, so you don’t miss out on messages from your friends! If you’re not a fan of the notification emails, you can turn them off in your settings.
